This is our Local Skills USA competition for carpentry where all students from the William D. Ford Career Technical Center are given the opportunity to compete.
The individuals who place in the top three go on to the regional skills competition held at the Great Lakes Builders Show in Novi on February 15th representing Southeast Michigan schools.
Top three from regionals go to the State Competition in Grand Rapids in April, and the gold medalist from states go to nationals in Louisville Kentucky. The WDFCTC carpentry program has had the Michigan State Champion the past 5 years and has placed as high as 6th at nationals.
Our program is run by Mike Koelzer and Adam Gorring.
