Wayne-Westland Community Schools is comprised of 17 elementary schools (K-5), 4 middle schools (6-8), 2 high schools (9-12) and an ultra modern facility for
career/technical training.
In recent years, the district has implemented and expanded many programs. These programs include class size reduction initiatives, reading recovery teachers, classroom
technology, grades 1–6 reading and math diagnostic testing and latchkey programs. Wayne-Westland also offers adult and alternative education, an early childhood and family development
center, and senior citizens activities.
Transportation services are provided to approximately 7,488 students in the district each day. Elementary students must reside over one mile from school and secondary
students must reside over one and one-half miles from school to be eligible for transportation services. The district enjoys an exceptional State Police Bus Inspection Report for its
fleet.
The district is staffed by approximately 1,594 teachers, secretaries, paraprofessionals, custodians, and administrators, as well as employees in the areas of maintenance,
transportation and food services. |
