Seniors 

If you have not ordered your cap and gown, now is the time! Herff Jones will be taking orders until March 31st. Flyers and order forms are available in the main office.

Yearbooks

Last chance now thru March 31st. Price is now $75 for yearbooks! Students can purchase them in school by submitting form and money to Mrs. DePaulis. You can also purchase them on-line @ www.yearbookordercenter.com job #40225. 

Tutoring

Free Tutoring Thursday nights 6:30-8:30. Student ID required!! It must be a current John Glenn ID. Students without the appropriate ID card will be turned away

2016-17 JG Athletic News

This is a reminder for all students who want to participate on a John Glenn athletic team during the 2016-17 school year.   Students and parents must complete the online athletic registration and turn in an athletic physical form before you will be allowed to tryout or practice with any team.  The athletic registration information is available on the athletic website at johnglennrockets.com.  Both student and parents must complete parts of the registration.  Athletic physical forms are available in the main office and in the athletic registration tab of johnglennrockets.com.  Completed forms must be turned in to the main office.

If you are interested in testing out please see the Book Keeper Mrs. Hayter in the main office.

Attention Clubs

Anti Bullying Club

We will be meeting selected Wednesdays from 2 – 3:00 in room 123. Come make JGHS a better place.

Fishing for Friends in Faith (4F Club)

Will be holding its meetings in Room 192 from 2:30-3:00 on Every Wednesday.  Come join us and learn new things, make new friends, or just come by to see what the club is all about.

French Club

To enrich French students of the French language and culture, to allow other students and staff to gain an increase awareness of our French program. We meet every Monday 2:10 - 3:00 in room 129 (some days are longer due to longer activities).

Chess Club

Interested in learning how to play chess?  Already know how but need someone to play against?  Come and join the newly formed Chess Club.  We meet every Monday from 2-3pm in room 121. It will sometime in January 2017. 

Interact Club

Are you a leader? Do you enjoy serving your community & helping others? The Interact Club is for you. We will work closely with Westland Rotary and complete community service projects. If you would like to be a part of this great organization, see Mrs. Johnson in room 176.

John Glenn History Club

To provide extra opportunities for students to engage in the study of history. Students can come involved in historical competitions, such as National History Day and collaborate on historical projects. We meet every second and fourth Thursday of every month in Mrs. Anderson room. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Anderson.

Seniors

Herff Jones will be at John Glenn Wednesday, March 15th during all lunches to delivery graduation announcements.

Representatives from several colleges and universities will be visiting JG throughout the next few months. This year we would like you to choose only 4 college rep visits to attend and to sign up through your counselor. 

Seniors planning a career focus of becoming a teacher. The 2017 Mary Edith Robb Memorial Scholarship is now available in the counseling office. Both male and female future teachers need to apply for a $1000 scholarship. Deadline is March 24, 2017.

The 2017 Westland Community Foundation Scholarship program information and application is now available in the counseling office. A minimum 2.2 GPA overall in a vocational or career technical education program and/or an outstanding achievement skills certificate is required as well as Westland residency. John Glenn scholars program participants are encouraged to apply! Deadline is March 27, 2017.

Advantage one credit union is pleased to announce that registration is now open for their annual student scholarship program. Applications are now available in the counseling office or by visiting www.myaocu.com/scholarships.  Deadline is March 31, 2017.

The Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) has launched its scholarship competition for the 2017-18 school year. Students are encouraged to apply online through MRA's website at www.retailers.com under the members benefits tab. Applications must be requested by March 15 and submitted by April 1, 2017.

Parkside credid union is now accepting applications for their 2017 scholarship competition. Applications are available in the counceling office. Any senior with a 3.0 cumulative GPA is eligible to apply. Deadline is April 3, 2017.

The Law Firm of Lusk Albertson is currently accepting applications for its LAunch Scholarship. Four $2,500 scholarships will be awarded. Applications can be completed online and must be sumitted by April 10, 2017.

The Stefen Wanczyk Foundation will be providing $2,000 scholarships to hard-working high school seniors with a 2.5 GPA or higher demonstrating financial need. Applications are now available in the counseling office. Deadline is May 31, 2017.

Mission

It is the primary mission of John Glenn High School staff, parents, and community to teach all students to become a successful ROCKET (Respectful, Organized, Cooperative, Knowledgeable, Enthusiastic, Trustworthy) learners.
