This week, we’re excited to host our annual Ann Arbor Hands-On Science Night here at Graham! The event will take place on Wednesday, April 15th from 5:00–6:30 PM.

We appreciate all of the families who RSVP’d for dinner and prizes—thank you! This is always a fun-filled evening for all ages, with hands-on experiments and interactive activities provided by the museum. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students and families to explore, discover, and learn together. We hope to see you there!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - April 10, 2026

Happy Friday!

We are headed into our last week of school before Spring Break. That seems so crazy to me! Reading month is coming to an end but that doesn't mean we stop reading. Even reading to your child for 10 minutes per day; a bedtime story for example, can have a huge impact on literacy, confidence and school success. It can also strengthen the bond between a parent and child, help improve listening skills and attention and build empathy in a child. Reading does WONDERS for everyone!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - March 20, 2026

We had a great week here at Graham! Reading month is still happening and we are really enjoying the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Every morning, we have a different staff member reading a chapter to the entire school. Students really seem to enjoy hearing the book from all of the different people that have been reading. To wrap up this wonderful month of reading, we will be hosting a Family Bingo Night for all of our Graham families! This will be a FREE event with food, books, games, and lots of prizes. We hope you can join us on Wednesday, March 25th beginning at 5:30 PM for a fun evening together celebrating reading!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - March 13, 2026

We are almost to March and you know what that means… READING MONTH IS HERE!!!

This is truly one of my favorite months of the school year. It is such a joy to celebrate the love of reading with all of our students and their families. We sent a Reading Month note home earlier this week, and I’ve also attached it to this newsletter to keep you informed.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - February 27, 2026

I hope everyone has enjoyed a wonderful Mid-Winter Break! I know many of our families were able to take advantage of the great Kalahari deal this week — what a fun opportunity! A huge thank you to Ms. Gamble for organizing this for our school community. Because of your participation, we raised a significant amount of money for PBIS and our Paw Point cart. Our students will have so many fun and exciting choices when they cash in their points!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - February 22, 2026

Our school will be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This day honors the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., who worked peacefully to promote fairness, kindness, and respect for all people.

At P.D. Graham, these values connect closely to what it means to be a Graham Husky. One of our PBIS expectations is to Be Kind, and Dr. King’s message reminds us how powerful kindness can be—whether it’s helping a friend, using respectful words, or including others. We encourage families to take a moment to talk with their children about simple ways they can show kindness at home, at school, and in our community.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - January 16, 2026

We had a great week here at Graham getting back into our routines! Winter can be a challenging time for many families, as we aren’t able to get outside as much and we see less sunlight during the day. If your student—or anyone in your home—is struggling, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or Ms. Salazar. We are happy to help connect you with additional support and resources.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - January 9, 2026

We have been talking about gratitude every day for the past couple of weeks here at Graham, and I wanted to take a moment to share mine. I am so grateful for this wonderful school community! I truly love coming to work each day to see our students, our staff, and our families. Watching our students grow throughout the year—both physically and academically—is one of my greatest joys.

I am thankful for our families who partner with us, support their children’s learning, and participate in our school activities and fundraisers. We really are one big team here at Graham, all focused on learning, growing, and doing what’s best for our kids.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - November 21, 2025

Can you even believe that Thanksgiving is already upon us? It feels like this fall has flown by! We have a busy week ahead here at Graham, and I want to make sure everyone has the details.

Texas Roadhouse fundraiser pick-up is this Thursday between 12:00–3:00 pm. Please don’t forget to stop by and grab your items!

That same evening, Thursday, November 20th, we have a Family Skate Night at The Skatin’ Station in Canton. We hope to see many of our families there for a fun night out!

We also have a HALF DAY on Friday with dismissal at 12:20 pm.

Looking ahead to next week—students will only have two days of school.

I’d like to remind families that if there is ever a problem or concern involving another student, please reach out to me or your child’s teacher rather than addressing the situation directly with the student or their parents. We want to make sure that any conflicts or misunderstandings are handled appropriately and respectfully. When families try to resolve these situations on their own, it can often lead to misunderstandings or make things more difficult for everyone involved. Our goal is always to support all students and families in a positive way, and the best way to do that is by allowing the school to step in and help manage the situation.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - October 17, 2025

We had another great week here at Graham!
This week, our students and staff practiced our emergency evacuation drill, and everyone did an amazing job! This is a new safety requirement across the district, and I was so proud of how smoothly it went. Our entire building worked together to make it a huge success—way to go, Huskies!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - October 10, 2025

October is Here at Graham! 🍂🐾

We are settling into our school routines, and students are doing a wonderful job learning and practicing our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) rules. At Graham, we focus on four main rules every single day:

Be Responsible

Be Respectful

Be Safe

Be Kind

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - October 3, 2025

Can you believe it is already the end of September? That seems so crazy to me! Fall is here, and the weather is starting to change every day. We do go outside every day for recess, so please be sure students are dressed appropriately for the weather. All students go outside with their class as well as at lunch recess, and we don’t want anyone to be too cold OR too hot.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - September 26, 2025

We have been so lucky with our weather lately! Even though summer is wonderful and gives us a little break from routines, Fall is truly my favorite season. I love when the leaves start changing colors and the days get just a little cooler. I’m all about a good sweatshirt and jeans. Plus—we get to watch our Detroit Lions back in action!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - September 19, 2025

We had a wonderful full week of school! Can you believe we are only on the 12th day of the year? Students are still getting used to the routines, rules, and expectations in both their classrooms and throughout the school. It often takes up to a month for children to really master these procedures, so we want to encourage everyone to be patient during this transition period.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - September 12, 2025

Next week will be our first full week of school! Students are doing a great job adjusting to new routines and procedures. We work hard with them for the first month of school to help them learn all of the new things about their classroom and the school.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - September 5, 2025

We are so proud of how well our students are doing as we settle into the routines of a new school year! The children are working hard at learning classroom procedures and expectations, and overall, the year has started off very well. Families should have already received an invitation to connect with us on ClassDojo, which is the main way we communicate important updates and celebrations with you.

We also want to acknowledge that the beginning of the year can sometimes feel challenging for students as they adjust to new routines, teachers, and classmates. This is completely normal, and with time and consistency, things will get easier. We are confident that our students will continue to grow more comfortable each day and have a successful year ahead!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - August 29, 2025

Happy Friday!

I want to thank the PTA for their hard work to put on our Spring Carnival. They have put countless hours into making this event a huge success. April Patterson, Katherine Mumpfield, Danielle Wietecha, Charisse Hooks, and Danny Stamper have been an amazing team this year. I appreciate all of their dedication to Graham and the time that they give every day to make things great for our students and their families. I also am so thankful that we have had so many parents volunteering for things, donating items, and just offering to help in any way that you can. It means a lot to me, to our staff, and to our students!!!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - June 6, 2025

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! The weather was a little chillier than I was hoping for but it was nice to see the sunshine!

As we celebrate Memorial Day, it’s important to take a moment to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving our country. We’re so thankful for their courage and the freedoms they’ve helped protect. We also want to thank all of the families in our school community who have served or are currently serving in the military. Your sacrifices mean so much to all of us.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - May 26, 2025

Happy Friday!

We had a WONDERFUL week celebrating all of our teachers at Graham! I want to personally thank the PTA for all of the wonderful lunches they provided this week! The staff LOVED them and they were so happy to not have to pack their lunch every day. It's the little things.

On Friday this week, we will have our HUSKY COLOR FUN RUN! This is a super fun event for our students, staff, and family members. Please note that students will be getting chalk on them as they run around the building. Please be sure they are wearing something that can get chalk on it so that we are not worried about something getting ruined. Old tennis shoes would be a great idea!! This event will run in the afternoon. The schedule will be posted later on in this newsletter.

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - May 9, 2025

Dear Graham Families,

We have noticed in the past week or so, an increase of toys, purses, and very large water bottles being brought to school. While we understand that some of these items may be special or comforting to students, they can also become very big distractions in the classroom and at lunchtime. When toys are brought to school, they are often lost, broken, or they end up going missing; so therefore we ask that they stay at home. Students that bring large water bottles will have to keep them in their backpacks because they are constantly toppling over and spilling everywhere. They are welcome to bring a smaller water bottle instead. The Stanley water bottles are much too big for their desks and they are also very top heavy. Purses must stay inside of backpack as well. We do not allow students to carry bags throughout the building for safety purposes. Thank you for working with us to create a calm, focused, and safe environment!

NEWSLETTER: Husky Happenings - April 25, 2025
