Hello Hamilton Families!

I really need your help!! We are having ongoing (and far too frequent) incidents between parents in the parking lot. Please stop engaging in arguments about where people are parked, how long they are taking to move, if they accidentally bump your door. These are all things that can be resolved without making a scene. If everyone does their part and follows the drop off and pick up procedure we will not have any issues.

Drive slow!
Be ready to wait, we have a lot of kids to drop off/pick up, it will take a few minutes
If you get out of your driver set, you must be in an actual parking spot.
DO NOT let your child out in the middle lane. This is not only very dangerous, it holds up traffic.
If someone makes a gesture at you PLEASE IGNORE THEM your reaction will not change their behavior and just causes more conflict.
Your child should enter and exit their assigned door (unless it is pouring rain).
Please share this with anyone who is picking your child up as we have had a number of relatives pick children up and not follow the procedure.

Students who turn in their book bingo at the end of the month will get to pick something from the book vending machine.

I hope you had a wonderful winter break and enjoyed watching the Olympics! Team USA was great!! As a hockey fan seeing both our men's and women's hockey teams bring home gold was exciting!

As we close out February we are entering the last quarter of the school year! This is the time to lock in and finish strong. We have shown amazing growth with our two new curriculum resources in both reading and math. I am so excited to see how far our students can go with this growth!

I hope you are all staying warm and safe during our arctic winter blast! Please remember that doors do not open until 8:15 regardless of the temperature. Supervising staff do not report until 8:15 so there is no one to supervise the children before that time. Please remember to send students with the winter apparel and label it because we have many children with similar or the same items.

Thank you to everyone who came out for parent-teacher conferences! Your involvement is one of the top indicators of your child's success in school! If for some reason you were not able to meet with your child's teacher please reach out to reschedule. It is important that you meet with your child's teacher to learn how your child is doing and how we can continue to work as a team to ensure your child's success.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from my family to your family. I wish you a wonderful holiday season and a happy and safe New Year! I know I am very excited to celebrate my grandsons first Christmas! Enjoy the two weeks off and be ready to start back in January for the second half of our year. We have already had such a great year so far. I am always amazed at how hard our students and staff work and how much they grow in a short amount of time. Being a part of the Hamilton community is something I am very proud of!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and long weekend! I enjoyed the holiday and long weekend spending time with my family and kicking off the Holiday season. Now I am ready to make the last month of the year great! We have many school activities and lessons this month, keep an eye on the calendar and Dojo so your child is not missing out on any of these school activities. As mom of two and grandma to one ( and grand baby #2 in April) I remember when my boys lived at home and the hustle and bustle of the holidays had me on my toes too! While we want to do so many fun things and get all the holiday events in, do your best to keep schedules and routines as normal as possible. Keep bed time routines and times consistent, spread events out over a few days and allow down time for your whole family. When elementary age children stay on schedule they are better able to control their behavior and emotions, which will make events and activities better for everyone.

Tuesday is Veterans day and I thank all our Veterans, current military and the families who support them. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

It is hard to believe that we are down to the last 2 and a half weeks of the trimester. The trimester ends on 11/25 and report cards will be viewable in parent connect by 12/5. The students and staff have been working so hard and it is really showing!! We will host parent teacher conferences on 12/9 & 12/11. Conference sign up will be sent out next week. Stay tuned!

Thank you all so much for the increase in parent involvement at our activities and events. We had a great turn out at the Halloween Skate night, you made it a success! Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring the prizes for the winners of the costume contest!

We have had a great first 6 weeks of school! Our students are settled into the class and school routines, made new friends and are working hard on their academics! We recently completed our first round of assessments and are pleased at the growth we are seeing in reading! We have started a new math curriculum and staff are reporting good results from this new resource.

To continue to help your child grow to their full potential, remind them to read 20 minutes each night, turn screens off an hour before bed and get to sleep early enough to get 8-9 hours of sleep. Having regular routines for after school, bed time and getting ready for school can have a very positive impact on how well your child does at school each day. Thank you for your home support and being our partner in your child's education!

What an amazing start to the school year! Our students have already shown us that it is going to be a great year! Welcome back!! We are very excited to see all of our students back on Tuesday. I hope your summer was wonderful! I had a great summer spending time with my grandson! It was great being a full time grandma this summer! The Hamilton Staff has already been hard at work getting the building cleaned and ready. The teachers have set up warm and inviting rooms to welcome our students for a great year of learning and growing.

On the first day of school only, parents may walk students into class. After the first day it is all hugs and high fives outside. All students are expected to enter and exit their grade level doors unless an arrangement is made with me ahead of time.

Please make sure your child's teacher is aware of how your child will get home on the first day. Telling your child to tell the teacher is not a reliable method. Please send a Dojo or note to the teacher.

Well here we are!! We made another great year at Hamilton Elementary! I am very proud of all the growth our students have shown, the hard work the students and staff have put in and the amazing memories from this year. Thank you to all the parents and families for all your donations of time, money and supplies, we truly could not function without your support! I wish all of you a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing all our Y5-4th grade students in the fall. To our 5th grade students and families....once a Hamilton Star....ALWAYS a Hamilton star and I hope you come back to visit!!

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and took a moment to recognize the reason for the long weekend. Memorial Day is not a day of celebration but a day of remembrance for those who lost their lives in the line of duty. Thank you to all who serve and the families who support them.

We have just 12 days left to make this year a great success! Students and teachers are working hard to get all the learning in they can to help our students be ready for next year. While we do have a number of fun end of the year activities planned, rest assured that there is still a great deal of learning taking place. We know that changes to the routing make things difficult for students so teacher do their best to keep things as routine as possible while at the same time working in some year end fun!

Happy Easter on this beautiful Sunday! I hope everyone enjoyed the wonderful Easter baskets that were donated and sent home on Friday. The students were very excited to see the Easter bunny and receive the baskets! Big thank you to DeLano Hornbuckel and the Do It For Denny Foundation who were responsible for the donations!

Thank you everyone who came out for Boys Activity Night!! It was great seeing so many kids having such a fun time. We have a girls dance coming up on May 30th and the theme is Disco-A-Glow! More information will be coming at the beginning of May.
