This communication is an effort to inform ALL Wayne-Westland families of our desire to improve district wide student attendance. We know how important every school day is for your child’s success—academically, socially, and emotionally. Regular attendance builds strong learning habits, positive relationships, and a sense of belonging.

However, when a student misses too much school—even for excused reasons—it can have a lasting impact. In education, we use the term chronic absenteeism to describe students who miss 10% or more of the school year (that’s about 18 days in a typical 180-day year).

Early Dismissal and Tardy Reminder

We would like to remind everyone, to minimize disruptions during the final instructional period of the day, early pick-ups will not be allowed after 3:00 PM. We kindly ask that you plan any necessary early dismissals accordingly.

Also, if you need to change your child’s means of transportation, please call the office directly so that we can ensure the message gets to the correct staff member and student.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a focused and productive learning environment for all our students.

Attendance & Arrival/Dismissal Reminders

Reporting an Absence

Signing in does not excuse your child’s absence.
Parents must call the attendance line 734-419-2799 or use ParentConnect to report an absence prior to the absence.
If your child has an appointment, please provide a doctors note within 24 hours so the absence can be excused.

Arrival

After 8:30 but before 9:15 a.m. → Tardy
After 9:15 a.m. → Unexcused Absence
All late arrivals must be signed in by a parent. Please note: signing in does not excuse the absence/tardy.

Dismissal

No early dismissals after 2:50 p.m.
Picked up before 2:35 p.m. → Unexcused Absence
Picked up after 2:35 p.m. → Tardy

A Grinchy Slime Surprise!

This week students earned the chance to attend our November Level Up Wolves Reward party that was filled with a Grinchy surprise! Students got to make Grinch slime complete with a teeny tiny little heart. Way to go Wolves! We can't wait to see who earns the chance to attend the next Level Up Wolves Reward in December!
