Last full week of March. The last full week of school before spring break. The last official week of the 3rd Quarter (the end of the traditional 3rd Quarter is this Friday, March 27). FINISH the 3rd Quarter STRONG this week!

Reminder: there will be no school Monday, March 30 - Friday, April 3. I hope that you all have an amazing spring break and that you come back with your bucket filled primed to finish up this school year on a strong note!

WMHS had another amazing winter athletics season. Congratulations to all of our coaches and student-athletes on all of your success. Thank you to all of our community that came out and supported WMHS. Our #WaynePride was evident all season long.

This Friday and Saturday we were a host site for MSBOA District 12 Band & Orchestra Festival. The weekend went great with both of our groups performing very well! Symphony Orchestra earned an overall 1st Division Rating with straight 1's all across the board. Symphony Band also performed incredibly well, receiving straight 1's across the board and an overall 1st Division Rating. Congratulations to our Band Program! Well done!

Boys and Girls Basketball competing for States

*End of the traditional 3rd Quarter, the last Friday of March!

New thing happening here at WMHS lately with medical masks.... Students are getting them, handing them out in the bunches, and wearing them within their 'groups'. There is no reason or justification for this to be happening. In moving forward there are to be no masks on faces unless we have a parent and/or Dr. not on file in the main office. *Please know that if someone is truly feeling sick, we fully support wearing masks, but if students are wearing them just to wear them in their 'groups' that needs to end now, as it only causes us issues within the school.

This Wednesday is our official Count Day #2 for the State! Our official student count, determines our funding that we receive from the State. Our funding determines our programming and staffing that we can offer at WMHS. Please make sure to be at school AND attend every one of your classes on our Count Day this coming Wednesday! We need every WMHS Scholar at school and in every class on this day! This is very, very important!

It's officially Black History Month. Black History Month:It begins February 1 and ends March 1. Black History Month has been celebrated for more than 100 years. You will see signs around WMHS and our staff implementing lessons throughout the month to honor Black History Month.

For all of our WMHS Alumni, Staff, and Students, we have brought back the 'Zebra Print' (in an electronic format - see below). Ms. Hannah Reed at WMHS is overseeing this - meeting with students, guiding them on their themes, and articles. The Zebra Print is will be done on a monthly basis and linked into this Sunday Communication. It is written by students, for students.

It's hard to believe that we are now entering the month of December. The traditional 2nd Quarter and second half of the 1st Semester will fly by, as we have 3 full weeks of school to the Holiday Break. Upon our return from the Holiday Break, we have 1 full week of school and then 'Exam Week' and Record Days for Staff.

The time is now! Let's finish up this time period strong with our attendance and academics.

We have now completed our traditional 1st Quarter. Grades will be available to see in a Progress Report in MiStar by Wednesday, October 29.

This Tuesday we will run a 'Pink Out' to Support Cancer. WMHS, dress in Pink and if you can, bring some money for 'Minute to Win' donations during 6th hour.

This Friday is Halloween. Students can dress up for Halloween on Friday. Please remember that the dress code will still be enforced, along with no full face coverings, masks, and fake weapons used as props. Dress up! Have fun! .... But the costumes have to be school appropriate.
