Good evening Stevenson families!

I am so thrilled to report that we had a wonderful week with the kids! Monday we had picture day with Lifetouch, Tuesday we had student assemblies with all of the students, Wednesday we had classroom presentations on school wide expectations, and today we had our virtual OK2SAY assembly. So many great things and important information for our kids. Please CLICK HERE to review the expectations that we covered in our student assemblies. We would appreciate it if you were able to review these with your child at home.

Just a reminder that students do not have school tomorrow (Friday) or Monday for the Labor day holiday.

Each Friday you will be receiving a weekly update email from me with important information throughout the school year. Please note that I will try to keep it short and to the point as I know your time is valuable.

 ---------------------------------------------

TRAFFIC IN AM AND PM

Our front lot is very small. If you drop your child off at school in the morning, please be patient with the process and the staff/volunteers helping. For the morning drop off, please do not park and wait in the front lot for the doors to open. It is imperative that we keep the line moving to make room for more vehicles so we don't block traffic (including buses) on Palmer road. When you pull into the lot, please make sure to pull all the way up to the stop sign.

*Please note that we did make an adjustment to the entry door procedure that was originally communicated. All students that are dropped off in the morning will enter through the East entry doors (on the left when looking at the school from the front lot) in the front of the building.

MONTHLY STAFF BREAKFAST VOLUNTEERS

We love our parent volunteers! And we love our teachers! Each month we will have an opportunity to shower our staff with the appreciation we have for them and what they do for the children each day with a beautiful breakfast spread. If you are interested in donating for this event on Wednesday, September 21st, CLICK HERE. Thank you so much!

PARENT VOLUNTEER INTEREST

If you are interested in getting involved at Stevenson Middle School in any capacity, please CLICK HERE to submit your interest

OPEN HOUSE

Just a reminder that we have our Open House event next week. On Thursday, September 8th from 5pm-6pm we welcome all families to come and tour our building and meet our staff. At 5:30pm for anyone interested, I will have a presentation in our library reviewing our Title 1 school status, what that means, and more information around that.

 ------------------------------------------

PICTURE MAKEUP DAY

We had our picture day on Monday. If your child did not get their picture taken or if you purchased pictures and want them retaken, please know that our makeup day is this coming Tuesday, September 6th.

REQUIRED FORMS TO TURN IN

Thank you to many of you who have already turned in the required forms for registration. Please note that we need every single family to complete THIS FORM (CLICK HERE) as soon as possible. Have your child turn this completed form in on Tuesday to their 1st hour teacher.

 TARDIES

We had a wonderful week with our kids showing them around the building, getting to know them better, and helping them to build more confidence each day in their routes to classes and locker use. For those students who are new to Stevenson, that can be a lot to learn in just 4 days of school. Please know that we will not be issuing tardies for our students next week to ease any stress or anxiety that comes with being in a new place and trying to find their path and use a new locker. We do have a one minute warning bell that goes off to alert students that they should start heading to class. Please encourage your child to start heading to their class when they hear that bell and that should give them plenty of time to get to where they are going. We plan to start issuing tardies and detentions for tardiness starting the following week (September 12th).

 -------------------------------------------

EARLY PICKUP PROCEDURE:

If you are picking up your student at SMS, please ring the doorbell located to the right of the office doors.  You will be asked to show your ID, and will be admitted into the building. You will not be allowed entrance without an ID. Once inside, you will enter the office and show your ID again. Staff will have you sign out your child on the computer and call them down to the office.

For everyone's safety, we will not dismiss any child to a person whose identity is in question, or whose name is not on the contact list on MiStar that you created through Parent Connect, so please make sure that information is accurate.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you need to pick up your child in the office before school is out, it must be before 2:20pm, or you will be asked to wait until 2:40pm.

----------------------------

CLOTHING:

Unfortunately, we do not have extra clothes for students to change into if they need to change for any reason. I recommend students keep extra items in their locker, or they call home for a change of clothes.

STEVENSON RESOURCES

Please check out our resources page for Stevenson. I suggest bookmarking the page HERE for quick links to anything you would need for Stevenson.

Also, we created a Student Hub that automatically pops up on all student computers each time they open a web browser so they know what is happening at the school, how to stay connected, and quick links for all the programs they would need to access at school/home. Click HERE to view it
