Dear Wayne-Westland staff and families,

First, we want to thank Jennifer Curry for her work as our Interim Superintendent this school year. Mrs. Curry and the rest of the leadership team have led the District with integrity, collaboration, and professionalism through a time of transition. Following the conclusion of the school year in June, Mrs. Curry will return her focus full-time to her role as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. She remains dedicated to a robust academic environment and will continue to provide opportunities for students to excel. 

At the March 17, 2025 Board meeting, the Board voted to offer Mrs. Curry a two-year contract as Superintendent. Through subsequent discussions between all parties, it became apparent that mutually agreeable terms could not be reached. Both Mrs. Curry and the Board have approached these conversations with professionalism and respect for the District's needs. 

Over the summer, the Board will take action to commence a comprehensive and transparent national search that engages the entire school community and will offer us the best opportunity to secure an exceptional long-term superintendent who will lead the District for years to come. As the national search is being conducted, an interim superintendent will continue to be in place to ensure stability and leadership for our students and staff without disruption. 

The Board looks forward to engaging the community and providing updates as the national search for our next permanent leader progresses. The District remains grateful for the support and partnership of our community and the Board is committed to involving community stakeholders in the search as it unfolds. Working together, our Wayne-Westland staff, families, and community members provide an education for every student that leads to the start of a great future!
