Dear Wayne-Westland Families,
Since I started here in July, I have been so impressed with all the wonderful opportunities Wayne-Westland students have. At times, however, I heard families say, “We never knew.” I can easily see how that can happen (to no one’s fault) as everyone is so busy and pulled in so many directions.
We would like to bring to your attention a phishing email that many students have recently received through their district email accounts. Unfortunately, some student accounts were compromised, and as a result, phishing emails have been circulating across the district.
We understand that many of our families may be impacted by the temporary shutdown of the SNAP program in November. Please know that Wayne-Westland Community Schools is here to support you during this time.

I want to assure all of you that, despite what is happening in Lansing and Washington, D.C., regarding both budgets. As you likely know, the state Legislature passed a Continuation Budget that will keep the state government open through October 8, 2025. Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., lawmakers failed to reach a budget deal, and a federal shutdown is now in effect. While this means our funding remains in question, the Board of Education and district leaders thoughtfully allocated resources so there would be no disruption for our students.
