Happy Thanksgiving!!  I say it every year, and I'll say it again....WOW I can't believe it is already Thanksgiving!   I am so thankful to be the principal of Hamilton and have the privilege of working with so many wonderful students, parents and staff! I could not pick a better place to work!  I am excited about the amount of growth I am seeing in our students and how much time and effort our teachers put into helping our students succeed every day!

As you know our district is focusing on College and Career Readiness in all of you PreK-12 classes.  At the elementary level it is about awareness and exposure so that when they are in the secondary schools they have some ideas about the path they want to take.  During the Thanksgiving holiday as you are with family and friends this is a great opportunity for children to have some conversations about careers.  Attached is a flyer with some great question ideas that your child can talk about with family and friends.

As the days are getting colder and we are closer to Winter please keep in mind that students will line up outside this week and next week begin to line up indoors.  Starting 11/28 doors will open at 8:55, regardless of temperature because staff does not report before that time.  Students will be let in through their grade level doors at 8:55.  Parents may not enter the building through grade level doors.  If an adult needs to enter the building it must be done through the main office.  Please plan your arrival accordingly and if your child is eligible for the bus, please consider having them take the bus too and from school.  Thank you in  advance for your support!

Last week we had our PBIS assembly where we introduced our next spotlight behavior.  This cycle we are focusing on kindness.  The students listened to a book and song about kindness and talked through what kindness means and how we can show kindness to others with our words and actions.  You will also see on the Dojo that your child has the opportunity to receive Spotlight behavior points when an adult sees your child exhibiting the spotlight behavior.  Talk to your child about how they are choosing kindness.

Tuesday is our PBIS Spirit choice day.  This is a fundraiser that helps us to provide rewards for students who earn perfect attendance, the most spotlight behavior points etc.  To participate in PBIS choice day students can choose one or all items on the flier and send in$1 for each choice they choose.

Please continue to check our district website for resources and information. Along with our Hamilton website, which includes the calendar for the upcoming school year.

You can also follow the Wayne Westland Community School page on Facebook for updates and information too!

Thank you for your continued support!

Make it a great week!
