Taft Tigers Newsletter: February Edition
Taft Galloway — "The World's Greatest Elementary School"
Happy February, Taft Galloway Families! We’ve officially made it through the deepest part of winter. As we look forward to the ground thawing and the days getting longer, we have several important updates to ensure our school continues to run smoothly and our students stay healthy and active.
A Note on After-School Pick-Up
We love our students, but we want to remind all families that school ends promptly at the scheduled dismissal time. Please remember that our staff members have personal lives, medical appointments, and their own children to care for once the school day concludes. Staying late with students who haven't been picked up on time creates a significant challenge for our team. We kindly ask that you respect our staff's time and ensure your child is picked up promptly every day.
Keeping Our Tigers Healthy
Cold and flu season is still in full swing. To keep our classrooms safe and prevent the spread of germs, please follow these guidelines:
- Stay Home if Sick: If your child is feeling under the weather, please keep them home to rest.
- The 24-Hour Rule: If your child has a fever or has been vomiting, they must stay home. They may not return to school until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
Mid-Winter Break
Mark your calendars! School will be closed for Mid-Winter Break:
- Dates: Monday, February 16th – Friday, February 20th.
- Return to School: We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday, February 23rd.
Get Up and Moving!
The frigid temperatures of the last six weeks have kept most of us cooped up inside, meaning many students have missed out on regular outdoor recess and playtime. Now that the extreme freezing weather has finally broken, it is super important to get your children active!
Encourage them to play outside, go for a walk, or get some exercise. Clearing out those "winter cobwebs" with physical activity helps students focus better in the classroom and boosts their overall mood.
Stay Connected
Don’t miss out on important classroom news! Please make it a daily habit to:
- Check your child’s folders and backpacks for flyers and assignments.
- Monitor ClassDojo messages for real-time updates and reminders from teachers and administration.
