We have been so lucky with our weather lately! Even though summer is wonderful and gives us a little break from routines, Fall is truly my favorite season. I love when the leaves start changing colors and the days get just a little cooler. I’m all about a good sweatshirt and jeans. Plus—we get to watch our Detroit Lions back in action!

Dear Wayne-Westland Families,
I want to assure all of you that, despite what is happening in Lansing and Washington, D.C., regarding both budgets. As you likely know, the state Legislature passed a Continuation Budget that will keep the state government open through October 8, 2025. Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., lawmakers failed to reach a budget deal, and a federal shutdown is now in effect. While this means our funding remains in question, the Board of Education and district leaders thoughtfully allocated resources so there would be no disruption for our students.

Dear Wayne-Westland Families,
The safety of our students and school communities is always our top priority. One important way to help keep children and teens safe is by practicing safe firearm storage. To help protect Michigan families-especially children-from firearm-related tragedies, a state law requiring secure storage of firearms went into effect on February 13, 2024.
