Hello Hamilton Families,

Thank you for your understanding and patience on Friday with our lockdown. As you know from the letter that was sent on Friday, Hamilton was put into a precautionary lockdown due to a police situation in the neighborhood. Our students and staff did extremely well and followed procedures just as they should. During events like this I follow district guidelines, police instructions and all of my attention is focused on keeping students and staff safe during a crisis. During that time I will not be answering Dojo messages or posting on Dojo until directed to do so from our crisis team. Taking my attention off of the situation to message parents is not in the best interest of students or staff. When it is safe to do so communication always comes out. As a parent I completely understand how difficult it is to not know exactly what is happening and I will always provide information as soon as I am able. In some cases, the information may come from our communications department or our superintendent. It is also important to understand that during a lockdown we cannot release any student or let anyone in the building until we are given the all clear from the police department. Thank you very much for your understanding and support!

On a positive note, our students are doing an excellent job getting back into the swing of things and getting into a routine! I am so pleased with how well they are doing so far this year! Please continue to read the Class Dojo messages so you are informed about classroom events and expectations. Teachers also post information about home work and additional home support activities that you can do to be a partner in your child's education. Some great things you can do at home to support your child's learning is to make sure they are reading for 20 minutes each night (this includes listening to someone read to them), check their backpack daily for papers that come home and make sure they get a full night of sleep so they can arrive to school fully prepared and on time to make it a great day!

When coming to the school please remember that if you are getting out of your car you must pull into a parking space. The lane in front of the school is just for drop off only and signs are posted for no parking. If you are getting out of your car you must pull into a space regardless of the time of day. Thank you for your understanding.

Please remember to be at the bus stop 10 minutes before the designated time. Especially at the beginning of the year bus route times vary greatly! I highly recommend downloading the Here comes the Bus app
