Dear Wayne-Westland Community School Staff and Families,

It is with tremendous pride in Wayne-Westland Community Schools that I write to you. I am honored to report that after fifteen months of candid, honest reflection, intense focus, respectful discussion, inspiring enthusiasm, and steadfast commitment by our administration, faculty, staff, and Board of Education, we have completed a comprehensive strategic plan. The process also included many devoted alumni, parents, students, benefactors, and friends. To all participants and survey respondents, we are deeply grateful for your time and devotion to the mission of our great institution.

The plan's design focused on the four fundamental operating-related elements of K-12 education: Enrollment & Funding, Instructional Infrastructure, College and Career Readiness and Student Experience. Within each area, we identified strengths and weaknesses and developed recommendations that, when implemented, will ensure the realization of our vision and fulfillment of our motto: "Great Future Start Right Here in Wayne-Westland Community Schools."
At the core of this plan is our intent to excel beyond our aspirations and accomplishments of the past half century and continue to distinguish ourselves from other secondary schools by our character, vision, values, and mission. We now face the implementation challenge and seek to excel academically on a level that will compete with the best secondary schools in the region. The Board of Education, school leadership, and staff are dedicated to the strategic plan's success and intend on propelling Wayne-Westland Community Schools into the future. We need to connect the past to the present to determine the future direction of the District.
As the upcoming school year unfolds, you will hear more about the plan, elements of it, and our overall institutional progress. Thank you for supporting the District's students, staff, and mission.
Sincerely,
John Dignan, Ed.D.
Superintendent
