Dear Wayne-Westland Families,
The end of the school year can be bittersweet. While we celebrate the accomplishments of a successful school year, we also recognize that for some of our Wayne-Westland staff, this is when they will transition from service to retirement. We honored our retirees at the June Board of Education meeting.
This year’s retirees represent every employee group in the district. The earliest starting date was 1976. Collectively, our retirees dedicated 946 years of service to our community. Congratulations to our 2023 Wayne-Westland Community Schools retirees.

This group has seen it all, and despite events that occurred over the past few decades in our backyards and across the world, they have been a stable force for our families and students during times of great change. They have grown and adapted to the unique learning styles and personalities that come with each new generation – from Generation X to Millennials.
These retirees have created a tradition of excellence that will serve our district for generations. We may not see our retirees daily, but they remain part of our fabric and are always members of our Wayne-Westland family. We are a better place because of their commitment and tireless dedication, and we honor the legacy of their work as we look to inspire remarkable achievements in our future.
