Dear Wayne-Westland Community Students, Staff and Families,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Here are a few updates I have to share with you this week. 

COVID-19 Reporting Guidelines
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has updated its quarantine guidance and its reporting requirements. 

As part of the state entering the "Recovery phase," MDHHS has also rescinded its requirement that schools report confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19. Instead, we can now move toward regular communicable disease reporting in schools that schools and health departments have been doing for years to create safer school environments and reduce the spread of many diseases like norovirus, measles, and lice.

Schools will continue to be required to report suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases, outbreaks and unusual occurrences to the local health department as specified under Michigan Administrative Code R. 325.173 (9). 

MDHHS continues to recommend schools provide notification and communication to families (students) and individuals (staff) when there has been an exposure opportunity to an individual with a communicable disease (such as COVID-19). If you know a family who has a kindergarten or young 5s ready child, please have them visit our website to register. 

Free Middle School Spring Flag Football League
This spring, the NFL Flag and Wayne-Westland Community Schools are offering a FREE flag football league for Wayne-Westland middle school students.  Register at this link.
