Food and Nutrition Services

The Division of Food Services is proud to offer a variety of delicious, yet healthy, breakfast and lunch choices for the students of the Wayne-Westland Community School District. The lunch program is run with a "point of sale" swipe card system, which reduces the wait time in line, and gives the students more time to enjoy their meals.

Purchasing Snacks and Drinks at School

Wayne Westland Community Schools offer a variety of additional products for students to purchase during lunch. The variety does differ from school to school and by level but includes beverages, bagged snacks, and dessert! Snacks can be purchased at school using cash or their student lunch account. A student’s lunch account can be funded by using PaySchools Central, details on how to use are below. Unfortunately, we do cannot accept credit or debit cards. If there are any purchasing issues or lunch account issues please reach us at foodservice@wwcsd.net or call the Food Service Department at (734)419-2118.

The  rates for PaySchools are as follows:

Why are fees increasing?

The decision to increase fees was not made lightly, and PaySchools (i3 Education) understands the impact this has on your school/district, your students, and your families.  In April of 2022, the major card brands implemented a significant increase in processing fees.  Combined with the increased operational costs that all businesses are facing, i3 Education has carefully adjusted our processing rates to continue to provide the unparalleled level of service and support our customers have become accustomed to.

Are rates increasing for all transactions?

No – PaySchools (i3 Education) is reducing the internet convenience fee for food service deposits less than $25 to $1.75 per transaction.  Families making deposits less than $25 often qualify for reduced lunch and experience a greater impact of increased fees.  As such, i3 Education carefully reduce these particular fees to continue in consideration to those families.

Is there anything we can do to reduce the impact of this rate change on our district or our families?

Yes – The PaySchools software allows districts to fully absorb transaction fees or assess convenience fees to families making payments.  PaySchools also supports a mix of the two options allowing the district and families to each absorb part of the fee.  If you would like to discuss options for adjusting your funds settlement structure to lessen the impact of this rate change on your district or your families, or if you have any questions about this rate change, please call 1-800-669-0792 or email support@payschools.com.

Wayne-Westland Community Schools continues to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the 2023-2024 school year.  Our participation in CEP ensures that all enrolled students will receive a healthy breakfast and lunch daily at NO CHARGE to your household.

To maintain our program status, parents and guardians are asked to complete and sign the Education Benefits Formwhich is also located on the Meal Magic Family Portal, and return it to your child's school as soon as possible. The information on the form is needed for administrative purposes, not to determine eligibility.

This form is critical in determining the amount of money that your child's school receives from a variety of state and federal supplemental programs such as Title I A, At-Risk (31a), Title II A, E -Rate, etc.  All information on the form submitted is confidential. Without your assistance, the school cannot maximize utilization of available state and federal funds.

If we can be of any further assistance, please contact our Food Services Department at 734-419-2118.
