Good Evening Edison Families,
The Edison Staff has had a busy week so far preparing classrooms for students next week. It was an exciting day as the classroom air conditioning units were tested for the first time! Some construction work will continue this week but the major projects are wrapping up!
Here are a few reminders and updates:
1. Classroom teachers have been assigned for 1st-5th grade students and can be viewed on Parent Connect. Kindergarten students will be assigned on Friday. The link to Parent Connect is on the district website or you click here: https://sisweb.resa.net/ParentPortal/
The teacher is shown as a counselor, but that's just how the system displays the teacher. In addition, you can view transportation information in Parent Connect. The student's bus route and pick-up/drop-off times are listed. If a bus is not assigned, you can contact Transportation at 734-419-2150.

2. The "Here Comes the Bus" app is available and will assist parents with tracking a bus. To learn more and set it up for the school year, go to this website: https://www.wwcsd.net/resources/our-families/here-comes-the-bus-app/
3. The first day of school is Monday, August 29th and it is a half day of school. Doors will open at 9:00am and dismissal is at 12:20pm. More information about arrival/dismissal will be sent out on Friday. The district calendar can be found on the district website (https://www.wwcsd.net/downloads/district/district_calendar_2022-2023.pdf).
4. Fall Sports Sign-up is underway! WWCSD offers FREE Soccer to K-3 students and FREE Flag Football and Cheer for 4th-5th! See the attached flyer for more information and to sign up!
We are very excited to start the year and welcome students back to the building next week!

I hope you had a nice Spring Break and Easter! It's hard to believe, but we are in the final stretch of the school year. This is a very busy time, so please read the updates below!
With the warmer weather, please be extra careful in the parking lot and around the school. Many families will be walking to school or parking across the street to avoid the drop off line in the morning. Staff will be working with the crossing guards to make sure students are arriving at school safely. Please do not drop students off in the parking lot. Use the drop off lane or park your car and walk your student to the front door (see map below). Thank you for following these procedures and helping keep our students safe!

We have Kindergarten Kickstart coming up next week on March 14th from 1:00-2:00pm at Edison. If you have an incoming kindergartner, we hope to see you there! If you have any friends, neighbors, etc, please help spread the word about the event. More details are listed below!
NEWSLETTER: Edison Update - March 4, 2024
I hope you and your family are well and enjoyed Mid-Winter Break!
City-wide General Elections will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, February 27th. As a result, several schools (including Edison) have been designated polling locations as part of the election process. Edison will have a virtual learning day on 2-27-24, students should not report to the building.
Teachers have put together work for the students to complete at home and will send it home today. In order to take attendance, teachers will be using Class Dojo. Look for information from your child's teacher today regarding work for the virtual learning day as well as how to post on Dojo for Tuesday's attendance.
If your child is not in school today, we will have packets available in the office for pick up.

I hope you and your family are well as we enter the final days of January! Although the weather has been mild at times, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. We go outside for recess if the temperature (with wind chill) is at or above 20 degrees. If you need help with winter clothing, please contact the main office for assistance.
The PTO Popcorn Day last Friday raised over $500 dollars! Thank you for sending in $1.00 with your student to participate. Our next Popcorn Day will be Friday, February 9th!
The Mobile Dentist will be at Edison the week. Forms were sent home, but you can also sign up on line at www.myschooldentist.com
Just a reminder carried over from the last parent update: The City of Westland has installed additional "No Parking" signs by the K-2 playground (between Edison and the Ice Arena). The Westland Police have started asking parents to move their cars at dismissal. Please be aware of this change and use the parking at Jaycee Park or the Ice Arena as alternates. We appreciate you avoiding the bus lane as well so we have a smooth dismissal!
